Domestic Scene with a Horse

This black and white engraving is of an exterior domestic scene with a man and two horses, at the interior entrance of a courtyard. A woman is in the foreground kneeling and playing with three dogs. It is a genre scene and depicts the figures in seventeenth century clothing, though it was printed in the mid-nineteenth century, the original painting by J. F. Herring. It currently hangs in Ralph May’s bedchamber.
