Rundlet-May House

Pair of Sofas

This pair of stylish Portsmouth Federal sofas are now in the front hall of Rundlet-May House but would most likely originally been in the formal front parlor. During the Federal era, the sofa became an indispensable part of fashionable home furnishings. These elegant neoclassical style sofas have arched crest rails, shaped handholds, and reeded front posts of mahogany, and are both highlighted with nailhead trim.
