This striking photograph of Gladys Weir Smyth May photograph is dated 1915 taken by Louis Fabian Bachrach (1881-1963). Bachrach Studios was founded by David Bachrach in the nineteenth century, who worked during the Civil War as a photographer for Harper’s Weekly. The business was then owned by Louis, his son, who acquired it in the early twentieth century and greatly expanded studio operations to multiple locations.
