Rundlet-May House

Seascape

Painted by John S. Blunt (1798-1835) in 1824, this scene is of three-masted ship at rest in a sheltered cove with high rocky palisaded surrounding. There is a fortress on cliff at left, a lighthouse on the right, and three men surveying a beached dory at foreground. It hangs in Ralph May’s study on the third floor.
